Russia is the largest Country in the world, Four of the world’s largest rivers are located in Russia: Lena,Ob, Volga, and Yenisey. Russia also has the deepest freshwater Lake named Baikal.

The vegetation in Siberia is mostly Taiga, meaning that is mostly conifer forests, and Tundra meaning mostly treeless plains characteristic of arctic or subarctic regions. The climate in Russia varies. Winters last about 6 months other than Siberia. In Siberia they last about 9 months.
The climate of Russia is formed under the influence of several determining factors. The enormous size of the country and the remoteness of many areas from the sea result in the dominance of the continental climate, which is prevalent in European and Asian Russia except for the tundra and the extreme southeast. Mountains in the south obstructing the flow of warm air masses from the indian ocean and the plain of the west and north makes the country open to Arctic and Atlantic influences.

Russia is home to many ethnic groups. Most ethnic groups are known as Slavs, Indo-European, and a group of people that include the Poles, Serbs, Ukrainian’s and other Europeans. The Russian Slavs in the past have dominated politics and culture.
Another larger group of the Russian is known as the Caucasians. They are named the Caucasians because they are from the Caucasian Region in southwestern Russia. The Chechens, Dagestanis, and the Ingushetains are all a part the Caucasian Mountains. The last known group is the Turkic’s people. The Turkic people of Russia include the Tatars, Chuvash, bashkis, and the Sakha. 1/3 of Turkic’s are also known as the Tatars, which is located in Tatarstan in the western republic.
The History and Economy The Russian economy is the world's eighth largest by nominal GDP and sixth largest by purchasing power parity, with the 3rd largest nominal military budget. Russia is one of the world's fastest growing major economies. It is one of the five recognized nuclear weapons states and possesses the largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Russia is a great power and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, a member of the Council of Europe, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the World Trade Organization , and is the leading member of the Commonwealth of Independent States
